New Year’s Eve. 2021.
“I’ve done a hell of a lot of work on myself and I know that I’ve changed in some ways but in other ways I really haven’t. That’s honestly so fucking sad to me.”
I had Covid. I couldn’t be with anyone. I drove to a lake and sat in my car alone, watching the frozen water. Same patterns. Same pain. Same goals I wrote down every single year. I had done everything I was supposed to do — therapy, certifications, every book. I understood my patterns better than most people ever would.
And still. Something underneath stayed exactly the same. I had started to wonder, quietly, if this was just who I was.
The answer, when it finally came, was quiet: I had been working from the outside in. My nervous system had never once learned it was safe to stop performing. Safe to feel. Safe to be uncertain and still move.
Once I understood that — in my body, not just my mind — everything changed. Not my circumstances. My foundation.
I created SEEN because no woman should have to sit alone in a car on New Year’s Eve wondering why all her work hasn’t been enough. The answer is not more work. It is working from the right place.
